Saturday, Bevier, MO. - Dinah's BIG Day

Bob, this blog is late, I know!  Last night we were invaded by all kinds of campers with kids for the weekend beach party.  There were so many devices attached to the WIFI that I couldn't use it to enter the blog last night.  So, it is being posted today (Sunday).

Today (Saturday), we got up and had a leisurely morning with breakfast in the camper.  We cleaned up the camper and ourselves and slowly prepared for our trip to Hamilton, MO. and the Missouri Star Quilt Co. (MSQC) stores.  As I was about to leave the camper, I was struck by the scene below.  It's amazing how attached we are to our devices.  I think we intended to be more disconnected, but we love our family and friends and want to keep in touch with them as much as they want to hear from us.  We still try to get the Braves games on satellite radio or ROKU.  So, we continue to keep our devices charged so we don't miss anything and that's OK.  We can have the best of both worlds!!
That is our collection of chargers!  <(;-o)
So, off we went to the MSQC.  It is about an hour's drive from our camp ground.  We had an easy drive and the roads are surprisingly very good here in Missouri.  Highway 36, which we were traveling is a four lane highway with uncontrolled access.  Once there we had no trouble finding a good parking spot on the main drag and in front of "Hy-Klas Foods.
The gathering place.  Bakery and Burgers and outdoor dining.

Just one of the murals painted on the buildings.  A nice touch.  Well done.

Time for lunch!  They also make killer milk shakes!!

Another nice mural.

We first went to visit the J.C.Penny museum down the street (One Block) from where we parked.  The museum was nice and very interesting if you remember the early days of the store.

It seems that the MSQC is to Hamilton, today, as J.C. Penny was to Hamilton during his time in History.  J.C. Penny brought jobs and wealth to this area with all of the manufacturing, etc.  He was a great man and he created great things by sticking to his faith in God, his high ideals and ethical behavior.  Like so many other great leaders, he always projected a sense of confidence and positive attitude that was contagious.

After the museum, we walked back to the other end of Davis street (their main street), about three blocks and started at the last store on the block.  There are 14, yes, fourteen separate stores, each specializing in a different type of fabric or gadget.  Oh, and there is one store called the "Man's Land" where husbands can lounge while the wives shopped.  All the amenities, TV, lounge chair, etc.  But, I stayed with Dinah.  She needs a chaperone!!  <(;-o)

I won't go into minute detail about our shopping, but we did find some really nice fabrics that Dinah had not seen in Huntsville.  I picked out a Batik for a new shirt that Dinah will make for me.  I picked out some really nice combination of fabrics for another quilt for our house.

Tomorrow, really today, if you're keeping up, we were going to the Disney Museum, but it is pouring down rain, so we may just take it easy, today and rest!!  <(;-o)

So, until we post again.  LUV 2 U all!
